My dad died the same year and he was an only child. After he died I did not see my grandmother again until her death in 1998. By then all of the stories were gone. I'd love to see it just for the guest stars. I'm curious if you ever spoke with your great-aunt about her Kelly connection. If only she or someone in the family had written down her stories. I've never seen this one, but your description makes it sound worth catching if for nothing else the array of musical artists on display here, the cream of MGM's talent an some of the best ever. I'm especially intrigued by the performances by Lena Horne and Judy Garland. The musical revue aspect makes it sound like the later "Ziegfeld Follies." R. D. While Thousands Cheer is relatively forgotten today, it was, as you say, an important vehicle for Kelly. And, it is also a perfect example of the type of musical Hollywood put out during the WWII-era. Kimberly J.M. This film sounds wonderful, and I definitely am going to be on the lookout for it. <br /><br />How neat that your great-aunt babysat him. I bet it was fun for her to see him becoming such a famous star, knowing that she had known him "way back when."<br /><br />Incidentally, Pittsburgh is my hometown too.
