It's a rather depressing movie, but it was great to see Keaton and Chaplin on-screen together.Kimberly J.M. I get a bit upset every time I think of the treatment of Charlie but I won't rant about that here.
Instead, let me just say that you've given us a review fitting for such a poignant and moving film. I adore Charlie from his first silents to the very end of his career in motion pictures. Sadly, he had a lot more in him that we could have benefited from, enjoyed forever, but that wasn't to be.

Limelight should be seen by any classic movie fan, for all the reasons you so beautifully point out here and beyond.

All the best!
PagePagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15063277863578004836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3224037410105354251.post-27426707627968868622014-05-25T17:44:26.226-07:002014-05-25T17:44:26.226-07:00very interesting choice for this decade, as you sa...very interesting choice for this decade, as you say not one that comes to mind but it should for its place in his life and career. I particularly love the dance and performing sequences in Limelight; they give you a real sense of Chaplin's music hall roots. And there is a kind of sadness in it, when you remember that it was Chaplin's last movie made in America. You are so right that it is not one that would immediately spring to my mind when I think of the 50s, but in terms of that decade's place in cinema along with Chaplin, it is most apt.Caftan Womanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05936895555808823221noreply@blogger.com
