Not exactly the same plot, but extremely similar: beleagured sheriff, boozy drunk, young hotshot.Oscarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09189970878147419395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3224037410105354251.post-87465585811693823942012-01-12T10:08:47.333-08:002012-01-12T10:08:47.333-08:00No worries. Just how young are you?

I grew up in the 60s where actors, if they wanted to work, had to know how to ride. There's nothing I like better than saddling up with a western movie. "Rio Bravo" is indeed a dandy and deserving of your 8/10 rating. Now you must check out "El Dorado". Someday, we'll make you a true Fordian and then ease you into the westerns of Anthony Mann and Budd Boetticher. It will happen!Caftan Womanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05936895555808823221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3224037410105354251.post-37285310954398753412012-01-11T07:25:44.266-08:002012-01-11T07:25:44.266-08:00How funny that you should talk today about not lik...How funny that you should talk today about not liking Westerns, as I (and 2 of my commenters) are saying the same thing. Westerns are definitely among my least favorite genre as well, though I will admit that I do enjoy (and 4-star) a few of them. And I absolutely LOVE the old TV show "The Big Valley"...even loved it as a kid, though I will admit that was because I was in love with Lee Majors back then. Now I enjoy it for Barbara Stanwyck, who is one of most favorite actresses.

Anyhow, I have never seen "Rio Bravo," though I know it is one of those classic films everyone seems to rave about. Your review is wonderful...it sounds like an interesting film, which I think I may just have to watch.

Thanks for such a fantastic review!!Patti https://www.blogger.com/profile/12931836399684850729noreply@blogger.com
